Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy when it comes to our health and well-being. Not too long ago I discovered that I had a vice for when I was stressed or bored, face picking. Why couldn’t vacuuming be my vice, life would be peachy then! I sit there and stare at my bare skin in the mirror for what feels like hours just looking for something. Why I do this I still don’t know to this day. But it is something I defiantly need to work on, I already have enough skin issues without me turning a black head into a crater. Last night I did some damage, and maybe it’s the clearer mind but I realized I can’t keep doing this to my face. I need to find another outlet for stress. So I fired up Google and went to my trusty skin sites, and found out that skin picking is kind of a thing. Enough so that Renee Rouleau not only blogs about it, but there is a tool I can order to potentially distract from skin picking! Say what!!! That mixed with my internet shopping addiction equals a new item that will be purchased. She calls it the No Picking! Twisty Toy, it’s supposed to be a distracter for my hands while I’m working or watching TV. I don’t think you have a to be a skin picker to use this gadget, it sounds like a great stress distracter for anybody.
Now that I have that little random confession out there, it’s time for a Whole 30 update. I can’t help but think of the memes you see that say something like “hey, you know you can change your diet without telling everyone about,” whenever I talk about Whole 30. But hey, one I’m excited about this lifestyle change and want to reach others who are going through the same experience or they are thinking about it, and two you can always not read the posts which would be sad but I understand.
We are on week 3 of Whole 30, and last week was great the energy was there, even shaved a minute off my mile. I think they call that tiger blood! Well coming into week 3 hasn’t started so hot, I woke up with a headache and am very groggy. I thought those days were behind me (insert dramatic self here)!!!! After reading about a few others experiences this could happen, and the culprit could be not eating enough calories. I don’t know how I could possibly eat anymore food, but this week will focus on “heavier” meals. That should be pretty easy because I received my Down South Paleo Cookbook over the weekend… insert happy dance! And keep your eye out for favorite recipes and a review on this scrumptious cookbook.
Have any of y’all experienced fatigue on week 3 of your Whole 30 experience? If so I’d love to hear about it!!
Another part I have to take into consideration for my energy levels is my cortisol, that could require some adjusting as well. I have a phone appointment with let’s call him Dr. Incredible next week so there will be a whole swell of information coming at me. It’s a journey and it’s going to require patience like I’ve never had before, but with my new-found knowledge that keeps growing on a daily basis I will heal myself from the inside out and hopefully help y’all in the process. I am currently working on a blog post about sugar and all the negative ways it can affect your body, so stay tuned for that!
Until then, stay well y’all!
